Paint Department Supervisor

Job Summary

Manage and direct the daily operations of the Paint department.  Ensure consistent and accurate color, product and application recommendations with the highest level of customer service while maximizing department sales and margins


Duties include

  • Oversee and participate in the sale of paint and related products to customers.
  • Coordinate with buyers and vendors concerning product mix, seasonal trends, special orders and customer purchasing trends
  • Coordinate with inventory control to maintain accurate counts, reduce aged inventory and increase overall inventory turns; Ensure the appearance, of end caps and shelf stock levels and ensure department equipment is properly maintained.
  • Supervise paint staff and perform personnel functions of assigning and checking work, authorizing time off, training, etc.; act as a resource for department staff providing product, customer service and store procedure information.
  • Provide customer assistance both on the phone and in-person, including the resolution of customer complaints.
  • Serve as JAY-K’s paint department community representative and as an outside sales representative for paint and related products


Requirements include:

  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • Retail experience – retail paint experience a plus
  • Supervisory experience in a retail setting preferred
  • Excellent public relations and verbal communication skills
  • Reading, writing and mathematical skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds


JAY-K Store Hours:  M-F – 7 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Sat. 7 a.m. – 1 p.m.

All full-time JAY-K positions require availability during all store hours (below) including 2 or 3 required Saturdays per month. JAY-K Store Hours: Monday–Friday 7am–6pm; Saturday 7am–1pm. Full-time associates work 38+ hours per week with overtime pay for hours worked over 40/week. All applicants must submit to a pre-employment background check and drug test.
