Recycling Drop Off
We have teamed up with the Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority to provide safe drop boxes for expired compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs and fluorescent tubes.
There has been an influx of longer-lasting, energy-saving compact fluorescent light bulb sales but a concern with the small amount of those bulbs being recycled when they've expired. While new CFL light bulbs are ENERGY STAR rated, providing energy efficiency for your home, once they've burned out, these bulbs as well as flurorescent tubes contain mercury that is harmful to the environment if not disposed of properly.
JAY-K is proud to continue our commitment to the environment and sustainability by proving our in-store CFL bulb recycling program for customers. You can bring your expired, unbroken CFL bulbs and 4 foot or 8 foot fluorescent tubes in to our New Hartford store. Once left with us, we take the bulbs to the Solid Waste Authority to be properly recycled.
